I’ll go on the record and say that New York LaGuardia is not my favorite airport…or at least it wasn’t. It’s old, it’s small, flights there are frequently delayed, and I’m yet to pass through on United where making a connection doesn’t require changing terminals and an enhanced pat-down courtesy of TSA. The one redeeming thing about LGA however, is the plane spotting. Say what? It turns out the terminal buildings are remarkably close to the runway, meaning you get an up-close look at the action from right inside the airport.
All of the following shots were taken a few weeks ago, while I was comfortably seated in the United Club. I just happened to have my big camera on me and a 250 mm lens, so what I anticipated to be the layover from hell at America’s least-loved airport actually turned into a fun impromptu plane spotting session. I saw the #newamerican livery for the first time and was even able to get some of the tail numbers.
If you don’t have access to the United Club, your next best “spot” is going to be at the end of terminal B or C… if only I had a way to get you guys into the United Club…stay tuned.
